- 1 (3 to 3 1/2 lb.) chicken
- 1 medium onion
- 2 Tbsp. fat
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. lemon juice
- 1 c. catsup
- 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. chopped celery (may substitute celery salt)
- pinch of salt
- pinch of red pepper
Method
- Cut chicken in serving pieces; brown in hot fat.
- Brown onions in fat.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Simmer 30 minutes.
- Pour over chicken.
- Bake in 300° to 325° oven for 1 hour.
- Sauce may be used for other meats also.
- Serves 6.
