Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 c. water
  • 5 medium potatoes, baked, peeled and cubed
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • salt, pepper and sweet basil
  • bacon, Cheddar cheese and chopped green onion

Method

  • Saute 1 small onion in butter or margarine until tender.
  • Add flour and stir until smooth.
  • Add one cup of water with bouillon cube and milk.
  • Stir constantly, until thickened.
  • Add potatoes. Cook and stir until potatoes are well mixed in white sauce.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon basil to taste.
  • Serve hot with bacon, Cheddar cheese and chopped green onion.
  • Yields 4 servings.
