Ingredients

  • 1 (1 lb.) loaf frozen white bread dough, thawed
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. prepared yellow mustard
  • 1/4 lb. cooked ham slices
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. Swiss or Monterey Jack cheese slices
  • 5 oz. fresh spinach, stemmed, washed and dried
  • 1 egg white, beaten

Method

  • Lightly flour a pastry cloth or a piece of wax paper.
  • Place bread dough on cloth; sprinkle lightly with flour.
  • Roll out dough to a 10 x 14-inch rectangle.
  • Spread mustard lengthwise down center 1/3 of dough.
  • Top with ham, then cheese and spinach.
  • Make cuts in dough from filling to dough edges at 1 inch intervals along sides of filling.
  • Alternating sides, fold cup strips at a slight angle over top of filling to cover.
  • Carefully transfer filled dough loaf to a greased baking sheet.
  • Let rise for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Brush loaf with egg white.
  • Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Serve warm; cut into slices.
