Ingredients

  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1-1/2 cup Brown Sugar, Divided Use
  • 8 Eggs
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons Freshly Grated Nutmeg
  • 1/4 cups Maple Syrup, Plus Additional For Topping
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 loaf French Bread, Cut Into 1/2 Inch Thick Slices
  • 1/2 sticks Unsalted Butter, Cut Into Small Pieces
  • Powdered Sugar

Method

  • Pour the melted butter into a 9x13 baking dish. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar on top of the butter.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup and vanilla extract.
  • Make one layer of bread in the baking dish, using half of the bread. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread. Layer in the remaining bread and top with remaining egg mixture.
  • Sprinkle bread with the rest of the brown sugar. Dot the bread with small pieces of butter. Cover dish with a sheet of plastic wrap and let it sit in the fridge overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Remove dish from the oven and remove the plastic. Let it sit on the counter while the oven preheats.
  • When oven is preheated put the dish into the oven. Bake French toast for 30 - 35 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and top with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup.
