Ingredients

  • 6 c. sliced peeled tart apples (abt 4 apples) Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar - (packed) plus
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar - (packed)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. butter cut up, plus more for greasing pan
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. oatmeal

Method

  • Toss together apples and lemon juice to coat slices.
  • Stir in 2 Tbsp.
  • brown sugar and 1 tsp.
  • cinnamon.
  • Spoon apples into lightly buttered 8-inch-square baking dish.
  • Combine flour, oatmeal, remaining brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Using your fingers, work butter into oat mix till proportionately blended.
  • Spoon crunch topping proportionately over apples.
  • Bake at 375 degrees till apples are tender and topping is lightly browned, about 30 min.
  • Cold slightly, then serve.
  • This recipe yields 8 servings.
