Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 8 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. lukewarm milk
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/4 c. melted oleo or butter
  • lukewarm water
  • 6 beaten eggs

Method

  • Soften the yeast in 1 cup lukewarm water with the sugar.
  • Sift together the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder.
  • Stir in the melted oleo or butter, cooled to lukewarm.
  • Add a little more lukewarm water, if needed, to make a stiff dough (not too stiff). Add the eggs.
  • Save 2 tablespoons for glazing.
