Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. SuperMoist yellow, butter pecan or spice cake mix
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 3/4 c. applesauce
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • Browned Butter Frosting or Raisin-Rum Frosting (follows)

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Grease and flour oblong pan, 13 x 9 x 2-inches.
  • Beat all ingredients except frosting in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, until moistened. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl frequently, 2 minutes.
  • Pour batter into pan.
  • Bake until cake springs back when touched lightly in center, 40 to 45 minutes.
  • Cool; frost with Browned Butter Frosting.
