Ingredients

  • 3 lrg Granny Smith apples
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 6 Tbsp. (three-fourths of a stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 c. skim lowfat milk
  • 2 Tbsp. frzn apple juice concentrate
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 tsp Tabasco Habanero Sauce, more or possibly less to taste
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Method

  • Place oven rack in center position and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a shallow two and one-half qt baking dish; set aside.
  • Peel, core and thinly slice apples.
  • You should have about five c. sliced apples.
  • Set aside.
  • In large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking pwdr and salt.
  • Stir in melted butter and skim lowfat milk till thoroughly combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Top with sliced apples, spreading them proportionately over the batter.
  • Don't stir.
  • Combine apple juice concentrate, water and Tabasco Habanero Sauce.
  • Drizzle over apples.
  • In small, clean bowl, whisk together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping; sprinkle proportionately over apples.
  • Place in center of oven and bake about 45 min, or possibly till apples are tender.
  • Let cold about 20-to-30 min.
  • Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
