Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. dry yeast
  • 2 c. scalded milk
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 8 c. whole wheat flour

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water in large mixing bowl.
  • Scald milk and mix in oil, honey, molasses and salt.
  • When milk is cool, add to yeast and stir.
  • Stir in flour, a bit at a time.
  • Turn out on floured board and knead.
  • Let rise in covered bowl until doubled. Punch down.
  • Separate into 2 or 3
  • loaves and shape loaves.
  • Let rise in bread pans 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Bake at 425° for 12 minutes, then at 350° for 30 minutes.
