Ingredients
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. soft shortening
- 1 egg
- 2 Packages dry yeast
- 1/2 c. hot water to dissolve yeast
- 4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Method
- Dissolve sugar and salt in 1 1/2 c. hot water.
- Stir in whole wheat flour, shortening and egg till well blended.
- Add in yeast dissolved in hot water.
- Add in white flour to make soft dough.
- Knead 5 - 10 min.
- Chill or possibly may be used immediately (need not raise first).
- Shape into clover leaf or possibly any shape desired.
- Let rise till double in bulk, about 1 1/2 hrs.
- Bake at 425 degrees 15 to 20 min.
