Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Grease and flour a 15 x 11-inch jelly roll pan.
  • Put margarine and water in large saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Add sugar and beat well.
  • Remove from heat and stir in flour, salt and eggs.
  • Beat to mix.
  • Add buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla, beat thoroughly.
  • Pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until cake springs back at touch.
  • Pour on frosting immediately.
