Ingredients
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. hot water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cake or pkg. of yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 3 to 3 1/2 c. flour
Method
- Mix shortening, hot water, sugar and salt.
- Cool.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water, add beaten egg, yeast and flour (enough to make soft dough).
- Let rise 2 1/2 hours.
- Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and spread with melted butter.
- Cut with small cutter and fold in half and pinch together.
- Place pinched edges up on greased pan and let rise for 1 hour.
- Bake in moderate oven for 20 minutes at 350°.
