Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 cube steaks
  • 1/2 pkg. seasoned stuffing mix
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
  • 2 Tbsp. bacon fat
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 can water

Method

  • Mix stuffing mix, celery and onion with enough hot water to make it quite moist but not soggy.
  • Spread on steaks and roll up. Fasten with toothpicks.
  • Brown all over with fat.
  • Combine cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup and 1/2 cup of water in bowl. Add to the steaks in frying pan, being sure to scrape brown drippings from bottom; simmer, covered, about 2 hours.
  • Baste and then turn occasionally.
