Ingredients

  • 4 large Granny Smith apples
  • 1/4 cup mincemeat
  • 1/4 cup golden raisins (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, cut up
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3/4 cup Madeira wine*
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped topping

Method

  • Core apples, cutting to but not through bottom ends. Fill each apple evenly with mincemeat and, if desired, raisins. Arrange in a lightly greased 9-inch square baking dish. Dot with butter, and drizzle with honey. Pour wine into dish.
  • Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until tender, basting often. Serve with ice cream.
  • * 3/4 cup apple juice may be sustituted for wine.
