Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, cut in half and seeds scraped out
  • 1/2 cup Kirschwasser
  • 1 pound cherries
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Method

  • Combine cherries, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla bean and seeds in a sauce pan and bring to simmer until sugar melted, then cook covered for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Add kirschwasser, stir and light repeatedly until flames no longer burn.
  • Add water to cornstarch and mix to form a thick paste then add to cherries and stir till mixed well.
