Ingredients
- 4 c. sliced carrots
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. American cheese, diced
- 1 can French-fried onions
Method
- Cook carrots in salted water; drain.
- Stir flour into butter. Add milk gradually; cook until sauce thickens, stirring constantly. Add cheese; stir until melted.
- Place 1/3 of the carrots in 1 1/2-quart casserole.
- Cover with 1/3 of the onions.
- Repeat with layers of carrots and onions, reserving 1/3 of the onions for top. Pour cheese sauce over all.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 350°.
- Sprinkle with remaining onions.
- Bake for 5 minutes more.

- 6 servings.
