Ingredients
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 c. sliced onion
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 large can tomatoes or 1 qt. juice
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. rice
- 1 c. diced celery
Method
- Melt shortening; brown onion and meat.
- Add celery, tomatoes and other seasonings.
- Stir mixture.
- Sprinkle rice over top.
- Do not stir after adding rice.
- Cover and cook on low for 30 minutes in heavy Dutch oven.
