Ingredients

  • 2 heads broccoli
  • salt and black pepper
  • water

Method

  • Cut the florets off the heads of broccoli.
  • Cut the stems into similar size pieces.
  • Add all of the broccoli -- florets and stems -- into a pot of boiling, salted water.
  • Cover and cook for 5-10 minutes until broccoli is tender.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and drain half of the water off into a separate container but do not discard it!
  • Blend the broccoli and remaining water in the pan.
  • Add more of the cooking liquid as necessary to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Season and serve.
