Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sticky rice, this is typically short grain but some medium grains will work.
  • 1 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp sake
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Method

  • Put the rice and water in the rice cooker and let soak for 30 minutes.
  • Cook the rice.
  • When the rice is done stir it around and let it sit for 10 minutes and close the cooker.
  • Make the sauce.
  • Mix the sake, soy sauce, and sugar together.
  • Pour the rice out in a bowl and drizzle the sauce on it.
  • This will help hold it together as it cools.
  • Form the rice into balls.
  • (helps to dip your hands in water)
  • Roll around in the seasoning or sprinkle it on.
  • Can wrap with a strip of nori but I was too hungry this round!
