Ingredients

  • 1 lb. bulk sausage
  • 6 slices white bread, crust removed
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded Longhorn cheese
  • softened butter or margarine
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 c. half and half
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard

Method

  • Cook sausage over medium heat until done, stirring to crumble well; drain sausage on paper towels and set aside.
  • Spread each slice of bread with butter; cut into cubes.
  • Place bread cubes in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; sprinkle with sausage and top with cheese.
  • Combine remaining ingredients; beat well and pour over mixture in baking pan.
  • Chill at least 8 hours; remove from refrigerator.
  • Bake 40 to 50 minutes at 350°.
  • If put into glass baking dish, check at 30 minutes.
  • Serves 6.
