Ingredients

  • 1 package brownie mix Duncan Hines Red Velvet Decadent
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips melted
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1/3 cup water

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. for metal and glass pans (325°F for dark or coated pans). Grease sides and bottom of pan with shortening or oil spray.
  • Combine brownie mix, egg, oil, water in large bowl. Stir until well blended (about 50 strokes). Spread into greased pan.
  • In a small, microwave-safe bowl melt the chocolate chips, about 1 minute on high power. Stop to check and stir. Heat in 10-second bursts until chocolate can be stirred smooth. Mix chocolate with the cream cheese frosting packet included in the Duncan Hines box.
  • Drizzle the chocolate mixture over the batter and swirl lightly with the tip of a table knife or a toothpick.
  • Bake for 35-38 minutes for 8"x8" pans or for 30-33 minutes for 9"x9" pans. Add 3-5 minutes for dark or coated pans. Or when toothpick inserted 1 inch from the edge of pan comes out clean.
  • Cool brownies for at least an hour in the pan before slicing and serving to allow the chocolate to set fully.
  • Tip: To get the marble pattern shown, make five parallel lines of melted chocolate and then pull a knife or toothpick through the chocolate at a 90-degree angle.
