Ingredients

  • 2 lb. link sausage
  • 2 to 3 onions, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 3 (16 oz.) cans pork and beans
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1 small bay leaf, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. basil

Method

  • Brown sausage in large skillet.
  • Remove from pan.
  • Pour off drippings, reserving 1/4 cup.
  • Brown onion and flour in reserved drippings.
  • Add sausage and remaining ingredients.
  • Heat to boiling.
  • Pour into a 3-quart casserole dish or bean pot.
  • Bake uncovered at 325° for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
