Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 Tbsp. bacon grease
- 2 to 3 carrots
- 8 potatoes
- 1 Tbsp. marjoram
- instant potatoes (as required)
- 1 bay leaf
- salt
- meat (leftover roast, Polish sausage or 4 to 5 hot dogs)
Method
- Chop onion and brown in bacon grease.
- Add peeled and diced potatoes.
- Peel and slice carrots and add.
- Cover in large pot with water and let boil with bay leaf, about 30 minutes.
- Add meat and instant potatoes until broth thickens.
- Bring to boil; add marjoram and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Salt to taste.
- This soup tastes good with rye bread or corn bread.
