Ingredients

  • 6 pork chops
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 medium large onions, sliced
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 c. coarse fresh bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. prepared horseradish
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut
  • 1 (15 oz.) jar applesauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Method

  • Brown chops in butter.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Set aside.
  • Saut onion in butter left in pan for browning chops.
  • Add more butter if necessary.
  • Mix sauted onion thoroughly with rest of ingredients.
  • Layer 1/2 of the mixture on bottom of a 9 x 13 x 2 pan; next, add the chops and top with remaining mixture.
  • Cover with foil and bake in a 350° oven for about 2 hours or until desired doneness.
  • Serve with noodles, rice or boiled potatoes.
