Ingredients

  • 7 tsp. shortening
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 2 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 4 1/2 to 5 lb. chicken
  • salt
  • 1 c. green pepper
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/4 c. sour cream

Method

  • Heat shortening in large skillet, saute onion until light yellow.
  • Stir in paprika over reduced heat.
  • Add meat and salt, browning meat while stirring.
  • When meat is well browned, add a small amount of water or stock.
  • Simmer, do not boil!
  • When meat is almost tender, add chopped green pepper and tomato.
  • Mix flour and sour cream together and thicken the gravy of the paprikas.
  • Serve with small dumpling or rice or boiled potatoes.
