Ingredients
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. dates or raisins, cut up
- 2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. oatmeal (rolled or quick)
Method
- Cream shortening with sugar.
- Add eggs, milk and vanilla; mix well.
- Sift dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture.
- Blend last items in and chill if desired.
- Drop or form into balls size of walnut.
- Place on greased baking sheets.
- Flatten to 1/4 inch thick.
- Bake about 10 to 12 minutes in 375° oven.
- Makes 4 dozen.
