Ingredients
- 1 c. melted shortening
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/3 c. boiling water
- 2 eggs, beaten
Method
- Mix shortening, molasses and brown sugar.
- Add sifted dry ingredients; mix well and stir in boiling water.
- Fold in beaten eggs.
- Pour into greased pan.
- Bake at 375° for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream or hot applesauce flavored with cinnamon.
