Ingredients

  • 7 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups butter
  • 1 (10-ounce) package currants
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk

Method

  • Place flour in a large mixing bowl; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in currants and sugar. Combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture. Mix well, and shape into a ball.
  • Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 3-inch circles. Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets, and cool on wire racks.
