Ingredients

  • 1 can green beans, drained, or 2 1/2 c. cooked beans
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 c. white wine
  • 2 Tbsp. fine dry bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 c. chopped almonds or pecans (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • Melt butter; stir in flour.
  • Add soup and wine; cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick and smooth.
  • Add green beans and almonds; mix well and season to taste.
  • Turn into a greased casserole; sprinkle with crumbs and cheese.
  • Bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until hot and lightly browned.
