Ingredients

  • 4 c. shredded cabbage
  • 3 to 4 carrots, shredded or chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 to 4 stalks celery
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. salad oil
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/4 tsp. dry mustard (optional)

Method

  • Mix vegetables in large bowl.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup oil over the vegetables.
  • Stir in and let set 30 minutes. Boil the vinegar, sugar, water and seasonings for 1 minute and pour hot liquid over vegetables.
  • Refrigerate.
  • Will keep in refrigerator quite a while.
  • Stir occasionally to marinate.
