Ingredients

  • 4 slices Bacon, Chopped
  • 1 whole Yellow Onion, Diced
  • 1 can 28 Oz Baked Beans
  • 1 can (14 Oz) Northern Beans
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 1/3 cups Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 cups Tomato Sauce

Method

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
  • In a large Dutch oven, combine bacon, onion, and beans.
  • In a small bowl, mix together salt, brown sugar, dijon mustard, maple syrup, and tomato sauce. Pour this over the bean mixture. Add just enough water to cover the beans.
  • Bake, with the lid on, in the preheated oven for 3 1/2-4 hours, uncovering it for the last 1/2 hour to brown the top. Check every 1/2 hour, and if the beans look dry, you may need to add more water. I added about 1/2 cup more.
