Ingredients
- 1 chicken, boiled until done and deboned
- 2 c. flour
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
Method
- Boil chicken in water until done; debone chicken and return to broth.
- Bring to a boil.
- Prepare dumplings by mixing together the flour, egg, milk, baking powder, salt and shortening.
- Knead thoroughly and roll out on a floured board.
- Slice and place in boiling chicken broth.
- Salt and pepper broth to taste.
- Cook slowly, uncovered, for 10 minutes and covered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
