Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c. water (more if needed)
  • oil for frying

Method

  • In a large bowl combine flour, salt and baking powder.
  • Mix well.
  • Stir in water, about 1/4 cup at a time, until mixture forms a stiff dough.
  • Knead about 5 minutes, until dough is thick and elastic.
  • Pinch off about 2 tablespoons dough and form very thin round patties, using a rolling pin or hands.
  • Fry in hot oil (365°), turning once, until brown on each side.
  • Makes about 24 breads.
