Ingredients
- 1/2 gal. shelled corn
- 1 Tbsp. lye (powder)
- 1 gal. water
Method
- Put water and lye in enamel kettle.
- Stir, then add corn.
- Cook until water is brown and thick.
- Remove from heat.
- Pour in a drainpan in sink.
- Run water over it for several minutes, then put in pan and wash a lot.
- Put corn in a big plastic container; cover with water.
- Let set all night.
- Wash well.
- Start cooking and cook until done.
