- 1 lb. lentils
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 bay leaf
- 10 c. water
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 2 tsp. parsley, chopped
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. marjoram
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 c. tomatoes, chopped
- 1 c. sliced carrots
- 1 c. sliced celery
Method
- Combine lentils (rinsed and drained), 2 teaspoons salt, bay leaf and water. Boil, then simmer 45 minutes. Brown hamburger with onion, parsley, garlic powder, marjoram, salt and pepper.
- Combine with lentils. Add tomatoes, carrots and celery. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
- Makes 3 1/2 quarts.
