Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. dry milk powder
- 4 medium potatoes (2 lb.), thinly sliced
- 2 to 3 c. cooked ham, diced
- 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Method
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan.
- Add onion and cook until tender.
- Stir in flour, salt and pepper until blended; gradually stir in milk and dry milk powder.
- Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens.
- In a 2-quart greased casserole, layer half the potatoes, ham cubes and sauce.
- Repeat layers and sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake, covered, 45 minutes.
- Uncover and bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until potatoes are done.
