Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/4 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 1/2 c. flour

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix shortening in boiling water. Add buttermilk.
  • Mix soda, salt and sugar with the flour. Add flour gradually into wet ingredients. Place in greased bowl until double in size.
  • Shape into rolls and place in warm spot to raise again.
  • Bake in a 350° oven until golden brown, 35 to 45 minutes.
