Ingredients

  • 1 med. onion
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 2 cans French style green beans
  • Bacon drippings
  • 1 (8 ounce.) can water chestnuts, liquid removed
  • 1 1/2 c. grated sharp cheese
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • Ritz cracker crumbs

Method

  • Chop onion.
  • Saute/fry in butter till tender.
  • Cook green beans with a small amount of bacon drippings till most of the liquid has evaporated.
  • slice water chestnuts and add in to beans.
  • Mix onions, grated cheese and mushroom soup with beans.
  • Pour into casserole.
  • Sprinkle Ritz cracker crumbs over top.
  • Bake at 350 degrees till bubbly.
  • Serves 8.
