Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb Russet Potatoes
  • 4 oz Swiss or other cheeses
  • 2 each Egg Yolks
  • 12 oz Milk Heated
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg
  • 1 Salt and Pepper

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Place a single layer of potatoes in a well buttered 2 inch deep pan
  • Season with salt and pepper and small nutmeg
  • Sprinkle on cheese add another layer of potatoes seasoning and repeat steps 2 & 3
  • Heat milk to a simmer whisk egg yolks together into milk
  • Pour mixture over potatoes covered with cheese
  • Bake uncovered till golden brown 50 to 60 minutes
  • Let sit for about 10-15min before cutting portions
