Ingredients
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking flour
- pinch of salt
- 4 egg whites, beaten until stiff
- 1 c. powdered sugar or 3/4 c. granulated sugar

Method
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add egg yolks.
- Alternate milk and flour.
- Mix this dough gradually and spread in 2 (9-inch round tins).
- Beat the egg whites stiff.
- Add the powdered sugar or granulated sugar gradually; spread on top of batter.
- Sprinkle nuts on top.
- Bake for 25 minutes at 350°.
- (Do not make a day ahead, as this torte is best served the same day as it is made.)
