Ingredients
- 1 lb. Great Northern Beans
- 1 can (14 oz.) whole or crushed tomatoes
- approximately 1 c. sugar per 1/2 lb. beans
- bacon
- salt
- pepper
Method
- Boil beans in enough water to more than cover for two hours. (May have to keep adding water; do not boil rapidly.)
- Then, let soak for 1 hour.
- Put beans in casserole dish.
- Add tomatoes, sugar, salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour bean water over beans to cover; add bacon.
- Bake at 350° until beans are soft.
