Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 12 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 34 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 14 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda

Method

  • Mix flour, ginger, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda, and sift together.
  • Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in egg and molasses.
  • Then add flour mixture.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Drop by teaspoonful into additional granulated sugar.
  • Shape into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet 2" apart.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes at 350*.
  • Cool and store in a tight container.
