Ingredients

  • 2 c. cubed soft bread
  • 5 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1/2 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 c. cooked mixed vegetables
  • 2 Tbsp. onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 lb. cooked, drained hamburger
  • Tomato, sliced

Method

  • Mix bread cheese and 2 Tbsp. melted butter.
  • Spread half in greased 1 qt. casserole dish.
  • Put vegetables on top of breading mixture.
  • Combine remaining melted butter and onions; cook until onions are tender then blend flour, salt, pepper and milk for gravy.
  • Add hamburger to gravy.
  • Pour gravy mixture over vegetable and bread in dish.
  • Cover with a layer of tomato slices.
  • Top with remaining bread mixture.
  • Bake uncovered for 25 minutes in 350° oven.
