Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Method
- Combine sugar and water in saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat to 270° to 290° on candy thermometer, soft crack stage; remove from heat.
- Pour over egg whites.
- Beat well.
- May add mashed bananas for banana cake, drained crushed pineapple for pineapple cake, coconut for coconut cake and chopped pecans for pecan cake. Yield:
- Enough for 3 layer cake, 12 servings.
