Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 can milk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Sift together flour and baking powder.
  • Add vanilla to milk. Cream butter and sugar together for 2 minutes on number 7 speed. Add unbeaten egg yolk and beat 1 minute longer.
  • Beat egg white 1 1/2 minutes on number 9 until stiff; set aside.
  • Add flour mixture and milk mixture alternately to the creamed butter and sugar and add.
  • Begin with flour and end with flour.
  • Work quickly, but don't overbeat.
  • Use mixer on number 3 speed.
  • Fold in egg whites.
