Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole wheat bred
  • 1 slice Muenster, Swiss, Monterey Jack or American cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp. butter or margarine

Method

  • Make a sandwich with the bread and cheese, trimming cheese to neatly fit bread if necessary.
  • Beat egg lightly in shallow dish. Dip sandwich into egg, turning bread to coat both sides.
  • Fry sandwich in butter in skillet, over medium heat, until lightly browned on both sides, about 1 minute.
  • Gently press down sandwich as it cooks to melt cheese.
  • Serve immediately or wrap in aluminum foil to eat on the run within 30 minutes.
