Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. onions, sliced really thin
  • 4 c. beef broth (bouillon is great)
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices toasted, thick sliced bread
  • 1 c. Swiss cheese

Method

  • Using large pan, saute onions in butter until golden brown and tender.
  • Add beef stock, Worcestershire sauce and a dash of pepper.
  • Bring to boil and reduce heat.
  • Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Put into blender or mixer and beat until smooth. Place bread in bottom of bowl.
  • Pour heated cheese mixture over bread.
  • Serve hot and garnish with chopped green onions.
