Ingredients
- 6 c. flour
- 1/2 Tbsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1 1/2 c. very warm water
Method
- Mix flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl.
- Add shortening; mix well.
- Add half of the water and knead.
- Add rest of water; knead well.
- Let dough stand, covered, for 30 minutes.
- Preheat grill to medium heat.
- Make 25 to 30 golf ball size balls from dough.
- Roll out into tortillas.
- Cook on grill about a minute on each side, until tortilla fluffs on the third turn.
- Makes 25 to 30 tortillas.
