Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil, Divided
  • 1/2 whole Onions, Diced
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons Sugar
  • 4 slices Baguette
  • 1/2 cups Goat Cheese
  • 2 whole Dried Calmyra Figs, Sliced

Method

  • 1.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat and when oil is hot, toss diced onions in.
  • 2.
  • Add the salt and sugar to the onions and cook until golden brown, then remove from heat and set aside.
  • Take care not to make the pan too hot which can burn the onions.
  • 3.
  • While the onions are cooking, drizzle the other 1 tablespoon of olive oil over top of the baguette slices.
  • Then place in an oven at 375 degrees F until browned.
  • 4.
  • Once the baguette slices are ready and browned, take them out of the oven and spoon carmelized onions on top.
  • Divide the onions evenly among all slices.
  • 5.
  • Then, spoon goat cheese over the onions (at this point you can opt to place the baguette slices back in the oven to broil at 500 degrees F until the goat cheese is bubbly and browned watch carefully!)
  • 6.
  • Finally, top with a slice of dried calmyra fig.
  • Enjoy!
