Ingredients

  • 5-6 tarts apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 9-inch pie shell, unbaked
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup cold margarine, cut into small pieces

Method

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • 2. Combine apples, sugar and cinnamon. Mix until apples are well coated with sugar and cinnamon. Add a little flour if the mixture is too wet. Place mixture in the pie shell.
  • 3. Mix flour and brown sugar. with pastry blender or two knives, cut in margarine until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle over apples.
  • 4. Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake an additional 35 minutes.
